Originally from the remote Binga district, these beautiful baskets are hand woven and are made by the Bantonga tribe.
Tonga women use traditional weaving techniques. The baskets are made from natural materials such as wild grasses, wine and palm leaves.
The baskets are actually meant to winnow grains. Wannen is an ancient agricultural method of purifying grain from chaff by throwing it in the wind and dropping it.
Today, the baskets are used as wall decorations or as bowls.
This Binga Basket Tourine is beautiful on the wall or as a decoration on a table.
